Senior Services of NC
Professional
Our caregiving team includes women and men with proven experience and impeccable references. We have a Registered Nurse (RN) on staff that is available to manage any client’s medical needs and also provide advice and consultation to clients and their families. All caregivers have credentials as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), a Personal Care Assistant (PCA), or have received professional accreditation from the American Caregiver Association. Every caregiver has also been subjected to a nationwide background check along with a thorough review of their past employment and client references. A skills review is conducted for every caregiver when hired and that review is continued with each new client that the caregiver is assigned. If needed, additional training is provided and is approved only with caregiver proficiency. There is continual management oversight that includes sporadic home visits. To facilitate this further, clients are contacted after every new caregiver shift and are asked to provide personal feedback. Clients are then asked to accept or reject the caregiver based on their level of comfort and confidence.
24/7 Service
We provide caregiving services around the clock! If many hours are needed, a small team is put in place on a regular rotating schedule so that your loved one can feel a sense of comfort and cohesiveness with as few new faces as possible. Administratively, Anne is also available 24/7 to answer calls, provide emergency assistance, or just to be that calming presence if the need arises. In most cases our caregivers are available to add a shift with a client at the last minute, stay more hours, or reduce the shift time according to client need or request. We can accommodate in a way that an agency can’t - we take a limited number of clients that we know we can manage with 100% effectiveness.
Affordable
Caregiver pricing varies but you will find that professionals in NC charge in the $25-$35 per hour range. We charge $32 per hour which includes a full client assessment, Meet and Greet visits for every new caregiver before assignment, and perhaps most importantly, a service guarantee that we will ALWAYS honor our service commitment and you will NEVER have a shift cancelled. You may schedule as few or as many shifts as you need, 7 days a week, including holidays. Our only restriction is a 2-hour minimum per shift.

Anne has been working in Senior Care for over 10 years. She is a familiar face at community seminars, leading workshops at local senior centers, and moderating area support groups focusing on dementia, Alzheimer’s and related healthcare issues. You may recognize her on WECT TV giving helpful advice for seniors on their “Business Minute” segments! Anne has held a number of positions with Home Instead of Wilmington, NC most recently as Community Outreach Director, but also in various management and caregiver training/supervising positions within the company.
Along with a master’s degree in education (M.Ed.) Anne also has a National Caregiver Certification (NCGC) from the American Caregiver Association, professional accreditation as a Certified Dementia Specialist (C.D.S.) and is a certified instructor of CPR/First Aid/AED through the American Heart Association.
Anne started her own private duty care company as a way to offer seniors and their families a better option to what the general home care agencies provide. Private duty care is tailored to individual needs and our caregivers are able to perform almost any service that does not present a safety risk or would require an MD. Senior Services of NC, LLC connects seniors with the highest quality, professionally trained, and skilled caregivers. The SSNC team is made up of credentialed and vetted caregivers that you can trust. In Annes’ words, “the quality of the team is what sets us apart!” Anne brings the wealth of her experience as both a businesswoman and caregiver along with her genuine love and respect for the seniors she serves.

WHAT WE DO
Caring for seniors involves a whole host of things and the specific care depends entirely on each individual need. Those needs are exactly what we pinpoint and address.
-
One client may feel lonely and is looking for a loving friend to spend time with, enjoy some conversation, prepare and share a meal or simply have a chance to go out into the larger world and broaden their horizons.
-
Another may need hands-on care transferring in /out of a wheelchair, help bathing, or perhaps they need some extra cognitive stimulation.
-
Sometimes hospital discharges or rehab patients are ready to return home, but they don’t feel comfortable jumping back into a normal routine.
-
Our caregivers can help cover the transition from full medical oversight as they begin to redevelop their independence at home. Their caregivers provide that extra level of support so the client can feel safe as they continue their recuperation and healing.
-
Often spouses have a need to be out of the house for an afternoon or out of town for a number of days and our team can step in and seamlessly cover things during that time.
-
Folks with dementia can be especially trying for families that regularly manage their care, and we are able to step in to offer respite and a chance for family members to recharge.
Client needs are specific and unique to each individual. Because we are a private duty company, we are able to tailor your loved one’s care to their exact needs without the many restrictions of an agency. In addition, you can be assured that the “tailored care” will be provided by the most qualified, skilled and compassionate caregivers. Senior Services of NC has exacting standards, and we hire a select group that must meet and maintain those standards of excellence. We pay our caregivers an average that is well above the regular NC pay rate and we keep a steady wait list of caregivers vying for a position with us. We can afford to be choosy, and we are! The majority of our clients have come to us after disappointing results with some of the larger, more advertised senior care agencies. My personal experience working with a large agency has given me a special perspective into what works, what doesn’t, and how best to improve. Give us the opportunity to show you how senior care is done right!
1. Companion Care
Caregivers establish a warm and friendly relationship with their clients. They participate in conversation, arts and crafts, music, games and other types of cognitive engagement. We follow prepared physical therapy/exercise routines, take clients on walks or wheelchair rides, and generally provide a level of friendship that encourages client involvement in activities.
3. Medication Assistance
Caregivers can manage all necessary medications and/or provide oversight to assure proper dosage and administration schedule. Our RN is also available to address medication concerns.
5. Household Duties
We consider general housekeeping and maintenance as part of any client care and include it with every shift. Duties include sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, bathroom and kitchen cleaning/sanitizing. We also manage household trash collection and are happy to place the outdoor cans for curbside pick-up/return according to neighborhood regulations.
If pets are present, caregivers can feed, walk, and provide clean-up outdoors or for litter boxes. Pets are important to client well-being, and we support that!
7. Transportation
We transport to doctor appointments, accompany clients to medical/dental procedures, do errands including grocery shopping and/or provide pickup of ordered items, take clients to the barber or hair salon, out to lunch or other social events or places of interest. Basically, we are available to get folks anywhere they need or want to go! You can choose to have the caregiver drive their own vehicle with a $.65 per mile charge/gas fee or they can drive the client/family vehicle at no additional charge.
2. Personal Care
Known as Activities of Daily Living (ADL’S), personal care tasks include bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring and eating. Caregivers assist based on the the appropriate level of need while encouraging as much independence as possible. The level of need is addressed during the assessment and a Plan of Care is written for each client and reviewed with the attending caregivers.
4. Dementia Care
Our staff is highly experienced in providing the best dementia care. We work with the family to incorporate regular routines that will provide comfort and security to the client. Importantly, we focus on engaging the client in cognitive activities where they can find enjoyment and have a feeling of success. We are familiar with and have many helpful strategies for dealing with “sundowning” and other issues that so often plague people suffering with dementia or Parkinson’s Disease.
6. Meals
Food preparation, serving, and cleanup are provided for all meals and snacks. Many of our caregivers are dedicated cooks and love to discuss menu options, offer new and healthier choices and when possible, share family recipes. We accommodate special diets as needed.
